Dionisio Point Provincial Park, Galiano Island

We can not go to this park by car, we walk about 1 hour to reach this park. But it is worth. The road to this park is occupied by private guy. Here is a beautiful small island, I am luck, the bird fly into sky in the mean time. Next time , it is better in summer, we can swim accross the strait to lie on the small island. It is really beautiful. Posted by Picasa

Dionisio Point Provincial Park, Galiano Island

Dionisio Point Provincial Park on quaint Galiano Island features rocky headlands flanked by sandy beaches and picturesque bays. Overlooking Porlier Pass, this park is accessible by boat only and provides opportunities for walk-in camping, fishing, boating, kayaking, wildlife viewing and scuba diving.
The forested uplands at Dionisio Point are rimmed by a varied and unique shoreline that includes sculpted sandstone shelves, pebble and sand beaches and colorful wildflower meadows. Fast flowing tidal currents have created a rich intertidal life - sea-stars, nudibranchs and chitons can be seen in the tide pools, and at times large quantities of swimming scallop shells can be found on the beaches.
This Gulf Island park has a rich human history. Large mounds along the shores mark the shell middens (refuse heaps) that indicate native occupation dating back more than 3,000 years. Castaway shells left by centuries of harvesting formed berms on the foreshore of the park. These middens contain many of the archaeological clues that help to unravel the history of earlier cultures. The park also contains well documented archeological sites previously used by the Penelakut First Nation. These sites are fenced to the public and identified though interpretive signage at Maple Bay. Posted by Picasa

The Bellhouse Inn is a beautiful turn of the century farmhouse Inn set on six waterfront acres facing south on Bellhouse Bay .
We live in eagle room.

The Eagle Room
The balcony provides a spectacular water view. The room is named after the eagles and turkey vultures that soar over the fields outside. The room has a queen size brass bed and en suite bathroom with a deep soaker tub.
This picture is take from the room, can see the ferry pass through the gulf. Posted by Picasa

Galiano island,Montague Harbour Provincial Marine Park

The white shell beach on the north side of the park marks one of several middens (refuse heaps) that indicate native occupation dating back over 3000 years. Castaway shells left by centuries of harvesting formed berms on the foreshore of the park. Wave action erodes the middens, crushes the shells and redeposits them to create Montague's white shell beaches. Posted by Picasa
